Assignment 5: Commercial Evaluations

The tone of the commercial is funny, but at the same time scary because anything can happen while you're driving. They're selling car insurance to people of all ages. I feel as though the commercial is successful because all Allstate commercials have Dean Winters in them so they are using the same character and in each one he is doing something different, but it grabs the attention of the viewers.
The tone of the commercial is happy and funny. It's directed towards adults looking to travel and is comical how they dress up the people in the commercial in only paint displaying they have "nothing to hide". They're selling flights to New Zealand on New Zealand Air. I believe the commercial is successful because it grabs the attention of those who see it, especially with the upbeat music playing. The narrator is a voice coming from off screen.

The tone of the commercial is happy. It's selling McDonald's food to be the same food that Olympians eat. It's a very friendly commercial directed to people of all ages. I believe the commercial is successful because it's showing that athletes who are in the Olympics eat at McDonald's therefore everyone who sees the commercial will want to eat just like an Olympian.
I think the tone of the commercial is supposed to be happy and somewhat funny. It is directed to students that have completed high school but do not want to go to college. I personally do not like this commercial and others that are like it. I find them very annoying and instead of actually paying attention to what the commercial is about, the song just gets stuck in my head and is very annoying. I do not find this commercial to be successful.

The tone of the commercial is funny. It is directed towards anyone interested in video games and also to anyone interested in hip-hop music. Someone interested in video games will pay attention since the beginning of the commercial looks like one for a new video game until they see the Kia car driving through with the LMFAO song playing which will then grab attention of viewers who like the song that is playing. I believe the commercial is successful and it is comical watching the hamsters dancing.

Animated Commercial: Step 1: Ideas

Bring in 5 commercial ideas for your company or product. Write a short paragraph about each idea on the blog. Present them in class and we will discuss which idea to use for the commercial.

1. A kid digging through his dresser drawer with things falling out to the floor. He says "Crap I wish Mom was home, I'll bet she'd know where my stuff is... Wow wouldn't it be cool to just push a button and then I would know where it is!"

2. A kid looking for something and it is hidden behind their bedroom door or under their bed. It could even have eyes peeking at the kid like hide and seek.

3. A mom reorganizing her kid's room and then the kid can't find anything. But he has a Pocket Mom, so with just a push of the button all of his misplaced items are easy to find.

4. Two kids have to gather the same type of things from home for a class at school and whoever brings in the items first get to go for ice cream with the teacher. One kid used his Pocket Mom and is now enjoying his treat while the other kid is sitting on the curb sulking because he wish he had a Pocket Mom too.

5. "Pocket Mom isn't just for kids anymore... now adults can use it too! Use the Pocket Mom to find those darn missing house or car keys, your wallet, the cat, and so much more... but wait! If you order now, get two Pocket Mom's for the price of one so Grandma can find her teeth!"

Brochure

Must be done in InDesign, and be as close to the final as possible. JPEG's of the brochure should be uploaded onto the blog along with an explanation of the design process. The inDesign file and all images involved should be in a folder inside of the Student Server in the "Brochure" folder. Make sure to bring in a printed version of the Brochure. It can be printed on two sheets of regular, cheap paper and folded appropriately. This will let us see how the print version will look before spending money on the professional version.

I chose to stick with the same colors and design that I used for the business card, letterhead, and original logo. I tried to include interesting information about the product so that buys would be interested in it.

Final Business Card

Must be done in InDesign. The graphics can be made from Photoshop or Illustrator. Can use royalty free stock photography or illustrations. Random images from Google will not be accepted. Upload the JPEG onto the blog along with an explanation of your process and design choices. Place the folder which contains your inDesign file and all images onto the Student Server in the "Business Cards" folder. Bring a print of your business card to class (can be printed from your home computer with the front and backs on separate papers.)

I chose this particular design because it was a popular one in class and the main age group for my product is college students. I like the simplicity of it and how it states what the product is. I stuck with my original colors and just added black for my name and contact information. I decided to put my slogan on the back of the card along with another clear description of what the product is.
